Jim Ross on Mike Adamle GM

Bookmark and Share

On Mike Adamle becoming the new Raw GM: The uproar regarding Mike Adamle being named as the new G.M. of Monday Night Raw seems a little like overkill to me. Firstly, I am not sure how prominate a role the Raw G.M. will have going forward. Does any one as of today? The object of any creative endeavor should be to establish wrestling stars and all those that are involved in the process should focus on that particular matter. Secondly, Adamle has yet to have one complete Raw episode under his belt but he has apparently already been deemed a disaster by many fans and some pundits. It would seem reasonable, unless some one has a crystal ball, that one would allow Mike a few weeks to settle into his role and to see what individuality and entertainment content Adamle can bring to the game. Personally, I think it wold be easier for a newcomer like Adamle to successfully pull off the General Manager role easier than doing play by play.

---my view--- In the past WWE has always placed a "heel" in the position of General Manager. This time they found a guy that everyone already hates and want to see fail. No matter if you hate the character or the guy himself, you will turn in to see who will kick his ass. This is a good move by WWE and it lets Adamle do what we know he can do (read scripts). We all have found out in the last few weeks that he can not call a match. He does not have the timing or know the terminology to do play by play.

Like Jim Ross says, maybe given enough time in his new role he will show us all something.

Freddie Prinze, Jr. Joins WWE Creative Team

Freddie Prinze, Jr. has joined the creative team at WWE. I hear the USA network is already touting it as a boon to them but from what I have heard he is if anything a "mascot" and will be working with the Smackdown team, which of course is not on the USA network.

Vince got a little press by hiring him but that will be short lived. If Freddie has any lasting influence on the mainstream press they better get him in front of the camera. Even better, get his wife on television. What else is Sarah Michelle Gellar doing now. Sarah vs. Mickie James for the Women's Championship anyone?

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler Reunite

- Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler will reunite as the announce team for Saturday Night's Main Event. The show will be taped before Monday Night RAW and will air on Saturday August 2. Jenny McCarthy will also be on the show to address her efforts in fighting autism. Will she fight? I think so, she will at least slap someone(Santino would be funny). I have been a fan of hers for years and she would make a good Diva. Only if they could get her to stay. But I am sure this is a one night only thing.

J.R.'s in the hospital again.

Bookmark and Share

In his latest blog Jim Ross says he had to again go to the hospital and under go surgery. Ross said "While in Orlando I started having colon problems again and began to lose a great deal of blood." That is a scary thing and I can not believe that he did not see a doctor immediately.

But as he said, the show must go on and he wanted to call wrestlemania. I know J.R. has his detractors but you have to respect the guy for putting the business he loves above his own health. I think J.R. is the voice of WWE and it would not be the same without him. But I would understand if he had to miss a show (even Wrestlemania) if he thought that he should see a doctor.

Thank God it turned out alright for him and the polyps they removed were benign. Please join me in letting Jim Ross know that he is the best announcer of all time and we want him to take care of himself so he will be around for a long time to come.

Ric Flair To Remain With WWE

Bookmark and Share

In a recent interview he said that he will remain with WWE in a public relations role. He shot down the idea of an announcer role as he said he didn't think he would do well with it. Flair also has big plans to build his Finance company in Charlotte.

I am willing to bet we will see Flair in a WWE ring again. Maybe not in a full match but he will and should in my opinion get involved with a few story lines. There is no better "talker" in the business.
